Acting Town Clerk and Councillor engage Merriman’s Mall vendors with GWI.
Acting Town Clerk Vanessa Simon-Brown and Councillor Heston Bostwick yesterday visited the Merriman’s Mall development with representatives of the Guyana Water Inc to assess the facilities for water and sanitation in the area. The Acting Town Clerk inspected the ongoing construction of stalls that are being erected under the supervision of the City Engineer’s Department.
Councillor Heston Bostwick, Chairman of the Markets Committee as well as staff of the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Georgetown were on the ground meeting with the barbers, hairdressers and stallholders to address concerns.
The upgraded stalls are an initiative of the Council as it continues its efforts to improve the lives of vendors by providing a safe and sanitary location to conduct business. The Council will continue to work with vendors to ensure their economic activity is sustainable and in conformity with the laws.
