Deputy Mayor Mentore joins Earth Hour commemoration
Deputy Mayor Alfred Mentore last evening joined the World Wildlife Fund ( WWF), UNDP and other stakeholders in recognition of the 60 th anniversary of Earth Hour and the push to eradicate plastic use. Deputy Mayor noted that the Council continues to battle with the challenges of plastic pollution which has been a costly exercise. He noted that plastic damages the mechanical pumps and clogs drainages sluices necessary to drain the city.
The Deputy Mayor supported the call to eradicate the use of plastic which is a threat to our existence in the capital city. He encouraged citizens and organizations to work together to educate and mitigate the effects of plastic.
Deputy Mayor Mentore committed to pursuing initiatives to preserve our earth and engaging with all stakeholders to provide the necessary guidance and support to bolster these efforts.
