City Mayor and acting Town Clerk meet Bourda Market vendors

His Worship Pt Ubraj Narine along with acting Town Clerk Vanessa Simon Brown engaged with vendors from the Bourda market area as part of their commitment to follow up after the cleanup exercise. Chairman of the Markets Committee Councillor Heston Bostwick was also present during the engagement.

His Worship stated that the vendors entered an agreement with the M&CC to ensure the area is kept clean and he hopes that this can be assured. He stated that the Council continues to represent on the behalf of vendors but expects cooperation and compliance.

Acting Town Clerk Vanessa Simon Brown indicated that the Council will continue to work with the vendors to provide solutions to challenges faced by the vendors as they conducted their business activity. She also stated that the Council has a responsibility to all stakeholders which includes vendors and road users.

Mayor Narine and the City administration have committed to working with the vendors to provide solutions with a people centered approach. His Worship underscored that mutual respect will ensure communication flows freely and reduce the need for strict enforcement by the City Constabulary. He also highlighted that the Council has engaged the City Police to support its enforcement efforts and urged vendors to do their part in maintaining the cleanliness of the markets and surrounding areas.

Senior officers of the City Council were present and addressed concerns raised by vendors at the meeting held in the City Hall compound.
